摘要

The present paper describes the application of dual solvent extraction system comprising of Tri-n-Butyl Phosphate (TBP) in CCl4 and Tri-n-Octyl Phosphine Oxide (TOPO) in CCl4 solvents in sequence with phosphoric acid addition for the separation of uranium matrix from uranium based solutions and subsequent quantitative estimation of 23 trace impurities including thorium simultaneously using Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES). Further, optimization of solvent extraction conditions required for simultaneous quantification of thorium and other impurities in the same sample aliquot are also discussed. Besides this, advantages of simultaneous quantification of thorium along with other impurities in the same sample aliquot by ICP-OES have been mentioned in the paper.
