Liquid Zn cathode assisted extraction of fissional element strontium in LiCl–KCl melts: electrochemistry and kinetics

In this paper, we investigated the electrochemical behavior and alloying process of Sr (II) on the Zn-coated Mo electrode and the liquid Zn electrode in LiCl–KCl melts. The deposition potentials and reaction processes of five Zn-Sr intermetallic compounds were analyzed on the Zn-coated Mo electrode. The kinetic parameters of Sr (II) on the liquid Zn electrode were calculated. Zn-Sr intermetallic compounds were prepared on the Zn-coated Mo electrode and the liquid Zn electrode by constant potential electrolysis for the extraction of Sr.
