Failure analysis of Yantar-2U radiation portal monitor at Qafe-Thana border crossing point, in Albania
摘要
This study focuses on enhancing radiological security in Albania through the evaluation of a Yantar-2U radiation portal monitor (RPM) at Qafe-Thana border crossing point (BCP). As part of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Coordinated Research Project (CRP) J02014, Albania conducted a root cause analysis to identify equipment failures and recommend corrective measures. The analysis revealed the importance of structured maintenance, timely repairs, and operator training. Key conclusions highlight the need for preventive maintenance and sustained monitoring to ensure RPM reliability and effectiveness in detecting and deterring illicit trafficking of radioactive materials.
