The biological effects of oral radioiodine administration on male rats (Rattus norvegicus): DNA damage and apoptosis
摘要
The study evaluated the biological effects of oral radioiodine solution administration in rats, considering DNA damage and apoptosis. Rats were euthanized after treatment and assessed for markers for DNA damage and apoptosis. Results showed no significant variation in γ-H2AX levels in all organs but increased 8-OHdG concentrations in the thyroid and stomach after one day of radioiodine treatment. Caspase-3 levels in the thyroid increased 30 min after radioiodine therapy, suggesting a strong positive correlation between γ-H2AX and caspase-3. These findings could inform future research and clinical practice, particularly regarding DNA damage and apoptosis.
