摘要

Mixer-settler (MS) units are used for rare earth metal ore purification. Their separation efficiency depends upon the flow dynamics of two phases (Aqueous and Organic) i.e. efficient mixing in the mixer and phase separation in the settler. In the present study, flow characteristics of the organic phase was studied by measuring its residence time distribution (RTD) using radiotracer. Subsequently, the flow parameters of organic phase were compared with reported aqueous phase parameters in the same unit. The findings of the study highlights deviations from ideal flow conditions and suggest operational adjustments, which can enhance MS unit efficiency for large-scale uranium purification.
