Analysis of thermoluminescence parameters of natural quartz: impact of thermal cleaning and irradiation doses

This study examines how thermal cleaning and irradiation doses affect the accuracy of quartz activation energy determination via the initial rise method. Isothermal decay of quartz deviates from both first- and second -order kinetics due to complex nature of the TL glow curve. Critically, the study refutes the longstanding assumption that initial rise methods are independent of kinetic order. Through thermoluminescence data and one-trap-one-recombination-center modeling, the authors demonstrate that retrapping ratios and initial electron concentrations exert significant bias on activation energy.
