摘要

In this present work, the soil samples collected from the Pallikaranai dump yard in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, were subjected to gamma-ray spectrometry to determine the indoor gamma exposures. As per the results, the activities (in Bq kg−1) of 238U, and 40K were higher than the respective world average value, whereas 232Th was lower considering the uncertainty associated with it. Among the calculated radiological parameters, absorbed dose rate, annual effective dose rate, and annual gonadal dose equivalent were higher than the world population weight average value. The presence of quartz, albite, zircon, hematite, magnetite, oligoclase, kaolinite, and pyrite was identified using the X-ray diffraction technique.
