Development of cresol red-epoxy resin film dosimeter for high-dose measurements

This study explores the fabrication and optimization of cresol red-epoxy resin films for radiation dosimetry. The films, prepared using cresol red, epoxy resin, and a hardener, achieved a consistent thickness of 0.996 ± 0.060 mm, with 0.20 w/v% cresol red as the optimal concentration for dose measurements (0.5–17 kGy). These films exhibited excellent pre-irradiation stability (90 days) and stabilized post-irradiation within three days. Annealing at 65 °C accelerated stabilization. The films demonstrated ± 6.7% reproducibility but were sensitive to high temperatures. Dose fractionation had no effect, confirming their reliability for radiation therapy dosimetry under controlled conditions.
