Alkaline cresol red dosimeters with quantifiable stability and extended dose range for radiation processing applications
摘要
Cresol red solution undergoes color degradation when exposed to ionizing radiation, with reduced degradation at higher pH levels. This study explores enhancing its dosimetric range by introducing an alkaline medium. Traditionally limited in detecting radiation doses, cresol red’s sensitivity and dynamic range are significantly improved in alkaline conditions, enabling reliable measurement of higher doses. Experimental validation using gamma irradiation confirms the dosimeter’s extended range and stability, making it suitable for diverse radiation processing applications. The findings highlight the effectiveness of an alkaline medium in expanding cresol red dosimeters’ utility, offering a robust solution for advanced radiation dosimetry needs.
