Research on electromigration of Sr2+ in mudstone: diffusion and modelling
摘要
Mudstones serve as a natural barrier and is a crucial medium for blocking the migration of radionuclides in deep geological repository. In this study, electromigration experiments of Sr2+ were conducted to obtain the effective diffusion coefficients through mudstone slices in limited time. The results indicate that as the voltage increasedthe effective diffusion coefficients decreased with increasing background electrolyte solution. This may result from influence of ionic strength and formation of colloids. Electromigration technique was confirmed to be reliable to quick acquire the effective diffusion coefficient. Great potential is expected for electromigration technique in investigation in dense medium, such as granite.
