A simple and rapid method for chemical characterization of fast breeder reactor components using RF GD-OES
摘要
In the present paper, radio frequency glow discharge optical emission spectrometer (RF GD-OES) has been explored for chemical characterization of fast breeder reactor components. D9 steel (also known as Titanium modified SS 316) has been chosen as structural material for making fast breeder reactors components. The developed method has distinct advantage of analyzing all the elements of interest in solid materials samples directly with minimal sample preparation. Further, samples of varying thickness could be analyzed on same calibration curve without losing any sensitivity in this method. Various analytical conditions of RF GD-OES are optimized in this method prior to calibration. The developed method is compared with alternate methods using statistical tests for validation. Relative standard deviation and relative error are estimated and found to be less than 5% in this method.
