摘要

Novel MgO-modified winter melon biochar (MgO@WBC) was synthesized via the hydrothermal method for uranium(VI) adsorption. The maximum adsorption capacity of MgO@WBC for U(VI) was found to be 391.84 mg g−1, and adsorption process was more in line with the second-order kinetic model, indicating a chemical adsorption process. The adsorption process was primarily due to the complexes of U(VI) with C–O, O–C=O, Mg–O, and Mg–OH, suggesting the introduction of MgO greatly improved the U(VI) adsorption. MgO@WBC with excellent economy, efficiency and stability had great potential in the treatment of wastewater contaminated with U(VI).
