摘要

The surface exhalation rates of thoron and the mass exhalation rate of radon were investigated in soil and sand samples from Surat District, Gujarat, Bharat (India). Samples were collected from diverse locations, including river beds, beaches, public gardens, highways, ports, colleges, and farm fields. Analysis was performed using a SMART RnDuo Radon monitor (MX400). Soil exhalation rates of thoron varied from 2.00 (Bq/m2/h2) at Sarsana (G6) to 127.55 (Bq/m2/h2) at Hazira (G15), with an average rate of 36.16 (Bq/m2/h2) for Surat District. Radon mass exhalation rates ranged from 3.26 to 81.22 (mBq/kg/h), with a mean of 27.98 (mBq/kg/h), below the global average. This data serves as crucial reference information for potential nuclear or other facility planning in the region.
