Marl collected from aquifer substratum of nuclear site used to remove uranium from solution

摘要

The adsorption of uranium by using marl, collected from aquifer substratum, was investigated. X-ray fluorescence shows the predominance of Si, Ca, Al, Fe and K. The specific surface area is 18.23 m2 g−1 with a meso-porous character. SEM reveals a non-agglomerated structure, non-uniform particles and the EDX analysis confirms XRF results qualitatively. The TG weight loss is more than 16%. uranium adsorption kinetics follow Ho’s model. The diffusion process was controlled by intraparticle model. The Freundlish isotherm was the best model. The retention capacity is qe = 6.0386 mg g−1 and give us a good opportunity. The adsorption is thermodynamically feasible, spontaneous, endothermic and disorder-enhanced.
