<p>Internationalizing technology operations early are widely regarded as important antecedents to superior growth among international new ventures (INVs). Yet, while studies have examined the effects of technological position on INV growth, a dynamic perspective is still missing. Taking a perspective of dynamic capability theory, I shed light on the effect of heterogeneity in technology path on INV growth in terms of a curvilinear relationship. How do dynamic technological path matter for INV growth? To address this question, I introduce and measure for the first time a concept of internationalization technological path heterogeneity to capture the path-specific feature for INVs’ technological capability building, on panel data from 160 INVs. The results shows that technological path heterogeneity play a significant role in driving the growth of INVs.</p>
