Response of a Poroelastic Semi-Infinite Strip to the Compression Acting Upon Its Lateral Sides
摘要
A mixed boundary-value problem for a poroelastic semi-infinite strip is formulated using Biot’s theory. Two cases of boundary conditions are considered depending on the permeability of the longer sides. By using the integral transforms and matrix differential calculus, the original boundary value problem was reduced to a one-dimensional problem, which was then solved analytically. The explicit formulae are derived for the effective stress, pore pressure, and displacements. These functions are analyzed depending on the permeability of the boundary, the properties of the poroelastic material, and the compression profile along the sides.
