摘要

This article highlights several types of activity to preserve historical analog seismograms in the former Soviet Union. This work includes the restoration, preservation, scanning, and digitization of historical seismograms of various events within the USSR. Specific examples are used to illustrate one of the challenges of regional seismic monitoring that can be addressed using historical analog seismograms, which were digitized. This involves refining the parameters of historical earthquakes in low-seismicity areas. For such events the kinematic and dynamic parameters (magnitude and energy class) were determined, as well as their focal mechanisms. The historically destructive Kamenskoye earthquake of February 15, 1965, near the Kamen-na-Obi city was examined. It is assumed that short-term seismic activity in the Kamen-na-Obi area was most likely induced by the construction of a large reservoir near the city and supernormal volume of water from atmospheric precipitation formed in this area on period 1964–1965.
