Influence of Cd2+ on Ni-Co Ferrite: Detailed Analysis of Structural, Microstructural, Raman, and Magnetic Properties
摘要
Spinel ferrites are widely studied for their distinctive physical properties that enable diverse applications. This investigation dives into the impact of Cd substitution on the functional properties of Ni0.8-xCo0.2CdxFe2O4 (NCCF, x = 0.05–0.20) ferrites. The samples were synthesised using the solid-state reaction route. Structural analysis was performed via X-ray diffraction, confirming the formation of a single-phase cubic spinel structure and revealing a systematic increment in lattice parameter with increased Cd content. The FESEM and Raman spectra also support the observations. Magnetic measurement demonstrated that Cd incorporation significantly alters the superexchange interactions between A- and B-site cations, resulting in notable changes in magnetic ordering and magnetization behaviour. These findings suggest that Cd substitution offers a viable approach to tailor the properties of Ni-Co ferrites for various applications.
