摘要

In this study, a multifunctional superhydrophobic coating was developed with the aim of addressing the needs of industrial metallic materials for self-cleaning, anti-icing, and anti-corrosion applications. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) particles were loaded onto the surface of zirconium oxide (ZrO2) particles using the sol–gel method and were surface modified with hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) to produce modified ZrO2–TiO2 composite particles. The composite particles were mixed with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and epoxy resin (EP) and applied to the brass substrate using a spraying technique to form a robust superhydrophobic coating. The coating exhibited a water contact angle (WCA) of up to 160.5° and a water slide angle (WSA) as low as 6.3°. This paper thoroughly investigated and characterized the coating, and its excellent self-cleaning properties and abrasion resistance were tested. Anti-icing tests at low temperatures demonstrated that the coating significantly delayed the icing time on brass surfaces. Additionally, the coating showed a significant reduction in the corrosion rate compared to untreated brass. In summary, the coating fulfills the requirements of practical applications considerably.
