Novel p-Co3O4/n-SnWO4 Heterostructure: Room Temperature Ethanol Gas Sensor

The room temperature (RT) ethanol gas sensor was realized in p-Co3O4 and n-SnWO4 heterostructure (HS) made by hydrothermal followed by calcination. Characterizations XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, UV-Vis DRS, FTIR and PL were employed. At RT, 80Co3O4/20SnWO4 demonstrated the highest response alongside considerable repeatability towards ethanol among the tested ones. The dynamic response measurements manifested this sensor ability of detecting 10 ppm ethanol. Furthermore, the response and recovery time of sensor for ethanol was measured to be 64 and 78 s, respectively. The synergy between charge transfer at p-n junction and oxygen defects is pivotal for RT ethanol sensing.
