<p>This study aims to explore the effects of perceived justice on public acceptance of mega construction projects (MCPs) from the unique perspective of different housing classes. Based on social cognitive theory, a theoretical framework was conducted to describe the role of perceived justice on public acceptance. Taking a metro project in Wuhan City (China) as the case, the survey with structured questionnaires was conducted in the different housing classes, resulting in 625 valid respondents. Ordinary least squares regression and bootstrapping mediation analysis were used to test the hypotheses via the social cognitive theory model. The results indicated that the direct effect of perceived justice on public acceptance was significant for the upper housing class, while perceived justice failed to affect public acceptance directly for the lower housing class. Distributive justice affects public acceptance in the upper housing class, while both interactional justice and distributive influences public acceptance in the lower housing class. The findings help the government better understand the impact path of perceived justice on public acceptance of MCPs and the deep needs of different housing classes. These insights can provide support for the government in the decision-making process of site selection, project approval, and compensation packages, which is conducive to improving public acceptance and promoting the smooth implementation and sustainable development of MCPs.</p>
