摘要

The importance of public concern in environmental governance is becoming increasingly evident, yet its implications for urban greening remain underexplored. This study utilizes big data from the Baidu search engine to directly quantify public concern regarding urban greening and examines its role in the capitalization effect of urban green space on housing prices. Drawing on data from cities in China during the period 2011–2019, this study identifies urban green space as a key determinant of intercity housing price differences and finds that adding one square kilometer of urban green space is associated with an average increase of 83 yuan per square meter in local housing prices. The heterogeneity analysis emphasizes the moderating role of public concern and reveals that the effect of urban green space on housing prices is more pronounced in cities with higher levels of public concern. Further dynamic analysis demonstrates that the impact of urban green space on housing assets is gradually intensifying, highlighting the role of public concern from a temporal perspective. By incorporating public concern for urban greening into the analytical framework, this study not only strengthens the economic rationale for urban green space planning but also sheds light on the formulation of more targeted policies.
