Analysis of the evolutionary game of energy-saving retrofit of residential buildings in urban villages under the background of urban renewal

In the context of urban renewal, the high carbon emissions from numerous residential buildings in urban villages have made energy-efficient renovations a focal point for addressing urban challenges. This study employs social network analysis, supported by field visits and in-depth interviews with experts and scholars, to identify the core stakeholders involved in the energy-saving renovation of residential buildings in urban villages. By incorporating prospect theory, we construct a tripartite evolutionary game model involving the government, energy-saving service enterprises, and residential building owners. This model analyzes the stability of decision-making behaviors among these three parties. Key factors influencing stakeholder strategy selection are simulated using MATLAB 2016a software. Our findings indicate that the government, energy-saving service enterprises, and owners of urban village residences are crucial stakeholders in the successful implementation of energy-saving projects. The cost of active regulation by the government significantly impacts its decision-making processes, while fines and subsidies effectively enhance service provision by energy-saving service enterprises and encourage owner acceptance of retrofitting. Consequently, to promote energy-saving transformations in urban villages, the government should promptly improve the market development system for energy-saving renovations. Energy-saving service enterprises must cultivate a strong sense of responsibility in delivering quality services, while urban village residents should actively supervise the renovation process and strengthen their awareness of environmental protection.
