Fluorescence Based Trace Level Detection of Cobalt Using 2,6-bis((E)-4-chlorobenzylidene)-4-methylcyclohexan-1-one as Sensor
摘要
A highly sensitive and selective fluorescence-based sensor JK/2,6-bis((E)-4-chlorobenzylidene)-4-methylcyclohexan-1-one, has been developed for the trace-level detection of cobalt (Co²⁺) ions. The sensor exhibits strong fluorescence emission, which undergoes significant enhancement in fluorescence intensity upon interaction with Co²⁺, in the presence of interfering metal ions, allowing for rapid and efficient detection. Detailed spectroscopic studies reveal a high binding affinity between the sensor and cobalt ions, attributed to specific coordination interactions. The sensor demonstrates a low detection limit, excellent selectivity over competing metal ions, and good reproducibility, making it efficient sensor for cobalt ion detection in environmental and industrial applications. This work provides a cost-effective and efficient approach for monitoring cobalt contamination in environmental water samples.
