摘要

I argue that nonhuman animals can and do suffer testimonial injustice. I begin by showing that nonhuman animals often possess the epistemic capacities necessary for vulnerability to epistemic wrongs in general. I also show that nonhuman animals may suffer the particular primary wrong of testimonial injustice: the epistemic insult. Participating in and supporting animal agriculture frequently involves assigning nonhuman animals an unjust credibility deficit through prejudice. The insights of this paper paint a new and more complete picture of the systematic mistreatment of nonhuman animals.
