Investigation into the Velocity of a Droplet Moving in a Plane Channel at Different Capillary Numbers
摘要
The dynamics of a single droplet moving in a liquid flow in a plane channel is investigated. For modeling, use is made of a phase-field model with a system of Cahn–Hilliard–Navier–Stokes equations which is solved numerically with the hybrid explicit-implicit scheme. An analysis is made of the influence of the capillary number and of pressure on the velocity and deformation of the droplet. The influence of the ratio of the viscosities of the droplet and the surrounding liquid on the droplet velocity and shape is investigated. Comparisons with experimental data are made.
