On Mathematical Simulation of the Oscillatory Motion of Meteoroids in the Earth’s Atmosphere

The nature of the motion of small cosmic bodies (meteoroids) during flight in the Earth's atmosphere, where they perform oscillatory movements around the center of mass due to their asymmetric flow, is considered. To estimate the flight parameters of an ellipsoid-shaped meteoroid, its aerodynamic characteristics (coefficient of aerodynamic drag, lift coefficient, pitching moment, and damping pitching moment) as functions of the angle of attack were calculated using numerical methods. Taking these characteristics into account, a numerical simulation of the meteoroid’s motion in the atmosphere was carried out, and the influence of its aerodynamic properties and parameters of entry into the atmosphere on the amplitude of meteoroid oscillations was assessed.
