Effects of Arrangement Parameters of a Staggered Horizontal Tube Bundle with Helical Fins on Free-Convection Heat Transfer
摘要
The use of air-cooled heat exchangers in a free-convection regime is an efficient and economically expedient solution for many applications, contributing to simplification of the design of a heat exchanger, reduction in power consumption, and decreased exposure to noise effects. Furthermore, the distinctive feature of a free-convection regime is low values of the heat-transfer coefficients for whose compensation use is made of increasing the heat-transfer surface on the air side by finning the tubes. To improve the efficiency of heat transfer processes, it is expedient to carry out optimization of a bundle’s geometric parameters and arrangement as well as the number of rows.
The paper presents the results of an experimental investigation into heat transfer to air under the conditions of free convection of horizontal one-, two-, and four-row staggered bundles with an equilateral arrangement from finned tubes of cooling heat exchangers. The finned tube surface factor is φ = 21, while intertube pitches are 90 and 120 mm.
The results obtained and the recommendations developed will make it possible to perform heat and design calculations in designing energy-saving heat exchangers from finned tubes.
