Hydrogasodynamic Instability of Flows with a Velocity Shift
摘要
The authors have presented a review of research of many years into the stability of flow and the onset of turbulence in the boundary layer near the surfaces of the bodies in air flow at sub- and supersonic velocities; the research was performed at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Consideration has been given to various aspects of the problem of laminar-to-turbulent transition that include the generation of instability waves by external impacts, the development of small-amplitude vibrations, and subsequent nonlinear effects and wave phenomena at the final stage of transition of the flow to a turbulent state.
