Experimental Investigation of the Range of Large-Scale Vortices in Three-Dimensional Turbulent Jets
摘要
Results of experiments, demonstrating the possibility of visualization and photograpy of dissipation-scale vortex elements of a hydrodynamic turbulence, are presented. The reasons for the existence of large-scale vortices of different types in the initial region of turbulent jets were determined and the influence of such vortices on the velocity distributions of the fluid flows in all the regions of a free turbulent jet with geometric and regime parameters varying in wide ranges was investigated. The measurements were performed for such a jet in the cases where it was not subjected and was subjected to an acoustic action, and they were accompanied by the visualization of the development of large-scale vortices in the initial and transient regions of the jet.
