<p>In this paper, we offer a novel methodology for studying classical age-structured population models with diffusion. Specifically, we show that many dynamical properties of these equations are coded through a suitable discrete equation in one dimension. This “reduction of dimension" allows us to derive sharp criteria for global attraction. The analysis of particular examples shows that our results are achieved under very weak and verifiable conditions.</p>
