<p>Single-subject designs are a central focus of inductive research in behavior analysis and applied behavior analysis, specifically. Despite the proliferation of so-called “quality indicators” in the last few decades, we argue that single-subject designs should be evaluated according to baseline logic and the degree to which threats to internal validity are controlled. We provide examples of studies that accomplish this; yet may not be traditional single-subject designs that meet quality indicators or look like the model graphs in research design textbooks.</p>
