<p>Optically&#xa0;high-quality&#xa0;<i>O</i>-benzyl-<span>l</span>-tyrosine N-carboxy anhydride crystals&#xa0;were grown by slow evaporation with&#xa0;non-centrosymmetric monoclinic <i>P</i>21 space group. Transmittance study shows&#xa0;BLT has 253&#xa0;nm cut-off wavelength with 73% transmittance in wavelength&#xa0;range&#xa0;of 253–800&#xa0;nm. BLT’s laser damage threshold is 0.311GW/cm<sup>2</sup>. Birefringence value of BLT&#xa0;is&#xa0;0.230 and 0.116&#xa0;in wavelength range&#xa0;of 500–700&#xa0;nm with good optical homogeneity. For&#xa0;device fabrication, BLT&#xa0;can&#xa0;withstand up to 100&#xa0;g stress. BLT crystal’s SHG efficiency was 1.81 times greater than KDP’s.&#xa0;Phase matching angle of BLT is Δ<i>m</i> = 34° ± 1°.&#xa0;Output power of BLT linearity&#xa0;is starting at&#xa0;4.1mW/cm<sup>2</sup>.</p>

Promising phase matchable nonlinear optical single crystal: O-benzyl-l-tyrosine-N-carboxy anhydride (BLT)

摘要

Optically high-quality O-benzyl-l-tyrosine N-carboxy anhydride crystals were grown by slow evaporation with non-centrosymmetric monoclinic P21 space group. Transmittance study shows BLT has 253 nm cut-off wavelength with 73% transmittance in wavelength range of 253–800 nm. BLT’s laser damage threshold is 0.311GW/cm2. Birefringence value of BLT is 0.230 and 0.116 in wavelength range of 500–700 nm with good optical homogeneity. For device fabrication, BLT can withstand up to 100 g stress. BLT crystal’s SHG efficiency was 1.81 times greater than KDP’s. Phase matching angle of BLT is Δm = 34° ± 1°. Output power of BLT linearity is starting at 4.1mW/cm2.
