Effect of solvents on the nonlinear optical and optical limiting properties of Alizarin yellow R under irradiation with diffraction pattern, thermal lens and Z-scan techniques using the 473 nm CW laser beam
摘要
In the current study, alizarin yellow R (AYR) nonlinear properties are investigated via the diffraction patterns (DPs), thermal lens (TL), and the Z-scan using a continuous Wave (CW) laser beam at 473 nm. AYR dye is dissolved in methanol, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), dimethylformamide (DMF), and acetone. By studying the UV–visible spectroscopy, it is found that the acetone solution has the highest absorbance. The nonlinear refraction index (NLRI) of the four solutions is calculated by the DPs and TL under irradiation with the 473 nm laser beam. The NLRI and the nonlinear absorption coefficient (NLAC) of the four solutions are calculated under irradiation by the same beam used via the Z-scan. All NLRI and the NLAC for the four solutions are found in the order of 10–7 cm2/W and 10−3 cm/W, respectively. The optical limiting property at wavelength 473 nm of the four solutions is tested, and threshold values are obtained equal to 10.48, 9.2, 7.4, and 5.11 mW for methanol, DMS, DMF, and acetone solutions, respectively. The all-optical switching (AOS) of the acetone solution is tested using two laser beams, viz., 473 nm and 532 nm.
