<p>Hydrothermally synthesized mixed-phase tellurium-enriched over-oxidized MoTe<sub>2</sub> exhibited a specific capacity of 331.16 mAh/g at 0.1&#xa0;C with a capacity retention of 88% during the rate performance. The newly approached mixed-phase electrode demonstrated a specific capacity of 360.14 mAh/g at 0.4&#xa0;C at the end of 440 cycles. Exceptional results of mixed-phase MoTe<sub>2</sub> indicate structural and chemical robustness of electrode material as an anode in LIB.</p>
