摘要

This study explores the synthesis steps followed by structural analyses and investigations regarding the photocatalytic behavior of barium titanate nanoparticles (BaTiO3 NPs) obtained via the pulsed laser ablation in liquid technique. A Q-switched Nd: YAG laser was utilized to synthesize BaTiO3 NPs by ablating a BaTiO3 substrate in deionized water. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis verified the perovskite cubic-phase occurring in the nanoparticles, which produced crystallite sizes between 281 and 458 nm based on laser energy distribution. FE-SEM microscopy analysis under field-emission conditions showed that the nanoparticles displayed spherical shapes while filling parts of the porous silicon (PS) substrate used experimentally. The UV–Vis spectroscopy analysis of produced nanoparticles displayed peak absorption between 350 and 375 nm. The optical bandgap values of BaTiO3/PS samples existed between 3.34 eV and 3.75 eV. When BaTiO3 NPs interacted with methylene blue (MB) dye under laser pulse energy conditions, they degraded the dye from 78 to 89%. Results illustrate that BaTiO3 NPs show promising photocatalytic behavior when prepared through PLAL because they generate reactive oxygen species upon exposure to UV light. The reported work demonstrates how laser ablation methods enable efficient modification of BaTiO3 NPs in optical and catalytic character for next-generation photocatalytic systems.
