Comparative research on slow cooling and seed rotating crystal growth of bis(pivaloylhydroxamato-k2O, O′)copper(II) [Cu(C5H10NO2)2] single crystal for technological uses
摘要
Most of the crystal growth and characterization articles show small-sized crystals to overcome this issue and to fabricate the NLO device, in this article, the slow cooling methodology (SCM) and the seed rotation method (SRM)-grown centro-symmetric, blue-coloured bis(pivaloylhydroxamato-k2O, O′)copper(II) [Cu(C5H10NO2)2] (PC) single crystals were grown. The following studies on PC crystals produced by SCM and SRM were conducted. PC crystal was confirmed to have formed by SXRD, and it is a member of the centro-symmetric space group tretragonal I41/a. With FWHM values of 19.625 and 14.412 arc s for the SCM and SRM-generated PC crystals, respectively, the HRXRD graphs are comparatively crisp and point to a nearly flawless crystal. The PC crystals generated by SCM and SRM have cutoff wavelengths of approximately 263 nm and optical transmittances of approximately 57% and 62%, respectively. It was found that the LDT of PC crystals produced by SCM and SRM was 0.8935 and 1.098 GW/cm2, respectively. The SCM and SRM-produced PC crystals are inspected after the load exceeds 140 g and 170 g. The nonlinear absorption coefficient (open aperture) ‘β’ of the PC crystal is 4.58 × 10−5 m/W, its nonlinear refractive index (closed aperture) ‘n2’ is 3.34 × 10−11 m2/W, and its absolute value of third-order nonlinear susceptibility ‘χ(3)’ is 2.59 × 10−8 esu. All of these findings indicate that SRM-grown PC crystal is a suitable candidate for NLO applications.
