A nonlinear optical absorption of 1-((E)-(4-methoxyphenylimino)methyl)naphthalen-2-ol (E4MMN) and its characterization studies
摘要
Tuning of nonlinear absorption and optical limiting action of E4MMN with different intensity strated by open aperture Z-scan technique under Nd: YAG laser (532 nm, 9 ns, 10 Hz, 1–5 GW/cm2). The crystal E4MMN was harvested by one pot reaction mechanism using a conventional method. The structure of E4MMN was confirmed by Single Crystal X-ray diffraction method, spectroscopic techniques like FT-IR, NMR, all three results were well correlated to each other. Information regarding thermal stability and melting point were rendered from TG–DTA thermal studies. The optical analysis (UV–Visible) verified that crystal has very low absorption and cut-off wavelength at 390 nm. Photoluminescence spectra of E4MMN shows one excitonic prominent peak at 640 nm. E4MMN crystal exhibits reverse saturable absorption pattern ascribed to two-photon absorption process and it possess high nonlinear absorption coefficient (2.40 × 10−10 m/W) with a low onset optical limiting threshold (1.22 × 1012), which suggests its superiority for developing nonlinear absorption induces optical limiting devices. The optical behavior of E4MMN is confirmed to be second-order nonlinear using Kurtz Perry powder approach.
