Investigation of the wave absorption performance of mesophase pitch mixed powder carbide

Dedicated to obtaining microwave absorbers with high efficiency, tunable properties and facile preparation, the carbonized mesophase pitch (MP) varying with carbonization temperature and filling ratio were fabricated and characterized. Carbonization temperature plays a vital role in the morphology, mesoporous structure and absorption properties of MP mixed powder carbide. The optimized absorption properties benefit from abundant interfaces, high conductivity, and mesoporous properties. In detail, the optimal reflection loss (RL) of the prepared carbide material can reach −35.0 dB at a matching thickness of 4.5 mm at an appropriate carbonization temperature (700 °C) and an original MP filling ratio of 31.25 wt%. Additionally, computer simulation technology (CST) further confirm that the material has outstanding microwave absorption performance and practical application potential. Thus, our proposed controllable synthesis method opens up new way for the rational design of high-performance microwave absorbers.
