<p>The 9th International Conference on Nanomaterials by Severe Plastic Deformation (NanoSPD9) was held in Beijing, China, in October 2025 and brought together a wide range of participants working on nanostructured materials produced by various procedures involving the application of severe plastic deformation. This conference successfully reviewed recent research findings on the subject and outlined the main areas of focus for the coming years. This special issue contains several articles by leading researchers who presented their work at the aforementioned conference. The objective of this introductory report is to provide an overview documenting the large numbers of review articles that were published in the field of NanoSPD over the last five years and, in addition, to give a tabulation of the current citation statistics that provide a clear demonstration of the significance and the overall impact of NanoSPD in modern Materials Science.</p> Graphical abstract <p></p>

The 9th International Conference on Nanomaterials by Severe Plastic Deformation (NanoSPD9) was held in Beijing, China, in October 2025 and brought together a wide range of participants working on nanostructured materials produced by various procedures involving the application of severe plastic deformation.
