Core-shell modified waterborne acrylic coatings for high-performance surface repair of high-speed EMU interiors

Due to the high frequency of utilization, visible accessories installed in high-speed EMUs sets may experience surface cracking, aging, and damage. Surface repair coatings are commonly used materials for repairing damaged high-speed EMUs interiors. However, traditional surface repair materials still have problems such as poor film-forming properties, insufficient anti-slip performance, and poor flame retardancy. This work synthesized modified waterborne acrylic resin with core-shell structure through grafting modification, and prepared high-performance modified surface repair materials. The adhesion level of the modified surface repair coating reaches level 1, with a friction coefficient of 0.7. In addition, it also exhibits good flame-retardant performance: the oxygen index test result is 31.8%, and the cigarette resistance level can reach level 4. The repair results of different interiors show that the material has a good repair effect and is universal.
