A review on metal oxide-doped polyaniline nanocomposites

摘要

The review study was carried out to investigate the effect of metal oxide (MO) nanoparticles on the characteristics of a polymeric matrix. Polyaniline, more commonly known as PANI, is one of the most addressed intrinsically conducting polymers. PANI was chosen as a promising conducting polymer among the competition and its application range was expanded by combining it with various components, including graphene, graphene oxide, metal oxide, carbon, carbon nanotubes, silicon, silicon dioxide, biomolecules, and metal–organic frameworks. This review illustrates how polyaniline can be doped with metal oxide nanoparticles notably Al2O3, CeO2, CuO, NiO, TiO2, and ZnO. Furthermore, the synthesis, characteristics, and applications of PANI metal oxide nanocomposites were also addressed. Since metal oxides (MO) already have a wide range of applications, combining PANI with MO can create a world of opportunity. An effort has been attempted in order to bring close enough to the recently focused study field of PANI-MO nanocomposites.
