摘要

Bamboo and its derivatives have become increasingly prominent for their environmentally friendly attributes, notably their low carbon footprint, exceptional specific strength, and stiffness. This study introduces novel geometric and constitutive models at a mesoscale level, aiming to comprehensively characterize bamboo's material response under a diverse range of loading scenarios. Employing a blend of mesoscale numerical simulations and detailed experimental investigations, this research meticulously elucidates the mechanical behaviors and failure mechanisms of bamboo, particularly under conditions of longitudinal tension and compression, transverse tension and compression, as well as shear loads. A significant aspect of this study is the exploration of various laminated designs for structural bamboo, particularly in the context of bamboo glulam (glued laminated timber). This exploration is pivotal, offering substantial insights and foundational support for future advancements and production techniques in engineered bamboo materials, thereby contributing to sustainable and innovative construction solutions.
