摘要

The anthropology of techniques has been applied in a highly original manner to study LBK societies to the west of the Rhine at the turn of the 6th millennium BC. In these regions, it relies on a high spatial and chronological resolution to understand village organization. Use-wear analysis reveals economic patterns and the distribution of activities within households. Studying the circulation of raw materials clarifies how each settlement was integrated into regional and supra-regional networks. Examining production methods enables us to track the transmission of know-how and the spread of technical traditions, as well as the biographies of producers, across time and space. Finally, the technological approach to lithic industries and ceramic production untangles the question of possible contact between Mesolithic and Neolithic populations. Thus, the anthropology of techniques proves to be a powerful means of addressing complexity in the organization of LBK societies, from individuals to cultural trends.
