<p>The motion of the heavy symmetric top or gyroscope is a counterintuitive motion and has many interesting properties. In general, we give an initial spin to the heavy symmetric top and then it rotates on its own terms. One may think that it always spins in the initial spin direction. However, this is not always the case. The necessary conditions for these cases are studied: spin reversal of the heavy symmetric top.</p>
