Predictors and consequences of career adaptability of gig workers
摘要
The study investigated the impact of proactive personality, psychological capital, and future-proofing on gig workers’ career adaptability, and how this adaptability influences career motivation and entrepreneurial inclination. The survey data were collected from 224 Malaysian gig workers using a cross-sectional correlational design. We found career adaptability to mediate the relationship between all predictors and career motivation. However, this mediating effect was not observed for entrepreneurial inclination. This suggests the importance of individual traits in shaping career outcomes among gig workers, enhancing career adaptability and career motivation. However, deeper exploration is needed to better understand and foster entrepreneurial inclination.
