<p>Employment is an important milestone that occurs across the lifespan, markedly during adulthood and periods of transition. Despite its importance, individuals across the autism spectrum experience employment rates lower than any other disability group. The current study aimed to explore and understand the vocational experience of autistic adults through the lens of Career-Self Determination Theory (CSDT). Specifically, how autonomy, social relationships, gained skills, and self-efficacy impact autistic adults’ ability to find or engage in meaningful work. Using semi-structured interviews and an interpretative phenomenological analysis, eight participants in this heterogeneous population shared their unique vocational experiences.</p>
