College students’ proactive personality and career decision-making difficulties: a conditional process study of practice engagement and practice quality
摘要
This study explores how proactive personality (a dispositional tendency to take initiative) alleviates career decision-making difficulties among Chinese college students. Based on self-determination theory, we examine the mediating role of social practice engagement (active participation in structured societal activities), extending prior research by introducing social practice quality as a contextual moderator. Results from a three-wave online survey of 4003 students indicate that proactive personality reduces career decision-making difficulties through social practice engagement, with social practice quality amplifying this effect. These findings underscore the importance of integrating personality traits with experiential learning environments in career development. Practical implications are also discussed.
