摘要

This study examines the impact of Digitalized Innovation Environments (DIEs), particularly FabLabs, on the development of digital competencies. By conducting a specific intervention in a German FabLab and subsequently analyzing pre- and post-tests of 242 participants, this work quantifies the influence of such environments on the enhancement of digital competencies. Our findings reveal significant improvements in various digital skills critical for today's digital economy. Particularly notable progress was observed in the areas of "Digital Innovation" and "Programming". The study also reveals that older participants and those with lower educational levels experience the greatest competency gains. These insights emphasize the role of DIEs as powerful, inclusive educational tools that foster hands-on learning and democratize access to modern technologies. Furthermore, the study underscores the importance of targeted design of such interventions to achieve maximum learning effects, laying the groundwork for future research through a transferable methodology for evaluating diverse DIE interventions.
