Muon Knight shift and electron spin resonance studies of the metallic state of Rb-Loaded sodalite
摘要
The metallic state of Rb-loaded sodalite, which is anticipated to lie near the Mott transition, was investigated using high transverse field (TF) muon spin rotation (µSR) and electron spin resonance (ESR) techniques. The muon Knight shift was observed to be nearly constant at −4.9 ± 1.0 ppm above ∼ 50 K. The magnitude of this shift corresponds to 7.4 ± 1.4% of that in bulk Rb metal. This observation suggests a significantly small density of states (DOS) at the Fermi energy. The ESR spectral line width exhibited a linear increase with temperature above ∼ 50 K. This behavior is characteristic of metallic spin-lattice relaxation governed by the Elliott mechanism. Collectively, both the high TF-µSR and ESR results provide compelling evidence that the metallic state of Rb-loaded sodalite does not exhibit strong electronic correlations.
